On May 17, IPL 2025 will resume after a week long hiatus as Royal Challengers Bengaluru will take on Kolkata Knight Riders in the first game since the league was brought to an halt on May 8 because of the cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan. Notably, 17 matches are still to be played in the remainder of the league and all four spots are up for grabs.
Gujarat Titans are placed first, while RCB, PBKS and MI follow them on the table. This article will look at Mumbai Indians, who are placed fourth with 14 points in 12 matches and how can they qualify for playoffs.
How Can Mumbai Indians Qualify For IPL 2025 playoffs?
- Mumbai Indians have just 2 matches remaining in IPL 2025 and they are placed 4th on the table with 14 points. The remaining two games are against Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals. If MI go onto win both of their remaining fixtures, then the Hardik Pandya-led side will qualify for playoffs with 18 points and their table position will be dependent on the results of top two placed teams Gujarat Titans and RCB as they both can finish with 22 points.
- If Mumbai Indians manage to win just one of the two games irrespective of the team, then they will finish their campaign with 16 points. MI would hope to defeat DC and wish for Punjab to beat DC so that the maximum Delhi can get to is 15 points, one less than MI, so that they can finish at fourth place.
- In case, MI beat Punjab and lose to Delhi, then they would have to bank on DC to beat Punjab Kings in their repeat encounter, so that MI finish fourth on the table with 16 points and DC finish third with 17 points.
- If Mumbai lose both their games, then they will crash out of the tournament and finish fifth on the table.
