In a frantic rant, a Pakistan journalist accused local ground staff at Lauderhill ground of intentionally dampening the outfield to help the USA advance to the Super 8 stage, thus jeopardising Pakistan's qualification chances.
The 2024 T20 World Cup's Group A game between Ireland and the USA was washed out due to incessant rainfall happening over the Lauderhill ground in Miami, Florida. The city had been witnessing torrential rains for the past week, and hence, cricket had to relent against the weather gods.
However, Pakistan ended up being the biggest losers of the washed-out game as they got out qualified for the USA, an associate team, to get knocked out of the ICC tournament. India and the USA are the two teams that will officially advance to the Super 8 stage from Group A.

A journalist, who is in the USA as an official media person, accused USA local ground staff present at the Lauderhill venue of being clueless and pathetic in their preparations.
In a viral video, the journo shared his orderly to reveal that local staff were pouring bottles of water in the outfield, unaware of the fact that they were, in fact, dampening the already worse outfield conditions, thus delaying the drying process.
The journalist questioned the credentials of the staff present on the ground and accused them of intentionally pulling off such tactics to aid USA's qualification into Super 8 stage of the tournament.
