For the first time in the history of the T20 World Cup, the unexpected has happened. Pakistan failed to make it to the Super Eight after the United States vs. Ireland match was abandoned due to heavy rains. The players shook hands, marking the end of this fixture.
Both the USA and Ireland grabbed one point each, and Monank Patel's USA advanced into the Super Eight stage.
Pakistan's campaign throughout the entire season has been downright disappointing. In their campaign opener, they lost to co-host USA, and that set the tone for what was to come, as they also lost their game against arch-rivals India by 6 runs.
It was too late when they got a grip on themselves. They did win the game against Canada; however, India had already qualified by then, and USA's NRR was more favourable.
