To the delight of cricket fans across the globe, the much-awaited IPL mega auction is around the corner. According to emerging reports, this year's mega auction will allow the franchises to retain five players heading to the showpiece event. In such a scenario, the teams will finalise their top five retention picks and release the remaining players to the mega auction.

Regarding Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the franchise will release several high-profile players to the auction pool. So, as the mega auction draws near, let's analyse and find out which RCB players might be among the most expensive picks.

Glenn Maxwell

Swashbuckling Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell emerged as RCB's go-to man in the middle overs. The explosive right-handed batter showcased his spin-hitting prowess for the Red Brigade, amassing 1266 runs at a blistering strike rate of 159.25.

However, the Aussie cricketer had a horrendous season with the bat in the IPL this year, managing only 52 runs in nine innings. So, considering his age and poor form, RCB might release him ahead of the mega auction. He has been one of the most experienced players in the Indian Premier League. So, if Maxwell is released, several franchises might break the bank to secure his services for the next season.

Akash Deep

India's prominent fast bowler Akash Deep has grown leaps and bounds in international cricket. The seamer grabbed the limelight following his impressive run in the Duleep Trophy this year. He was also impressive in the first Test against Bangladesh, rattling the visitors with his razor-sharp bowling.

However, the Royal Challengers haven't given Akash Deep enough opportunity to showcase his mettle in the IPL. Also, given that they will likely retain Mohammed Siraj as their lead seamer, Akash Deep might find himself in the mega auction pool.

But considering the right-arm speedster's recent bowling exploits, multiple franchises might engage in a bidding war and try to add him to their setup.

Cameron Green

Australian all-rounder Cameron Green was exceptional for Mumbai Indians in his maiden IPL outing last year. However, with Hardik Pandya returning, MI were forced to trade Green with RCB, as the Bengaluru-based franchise bagged him for a whopping amount.

Although Green showed some glimpses of his all-round prowess for RCB, he failed to justify his price tag. Given that the mega auction gives RCB a golden chance to rebuild their core, they will likely release a high-budget pick like Green into the auction pool.

Despite his back injury, Cameron Green's potential as a well-established all-rounder in international cricket and his past performances for MI make him a hot prospect in the mega auction.
