In a significant development around Hardik Pandya, former India opener Parthiv Patel has provided a massive update on Pandya's potential Test return.  Earlier, a video went viral on the internet, where Hardik hit the nets and was seen practising with the red ball, leaving the fans guessing about his possible return to Test cricket.

Parthiv Patel Clarifies Hardik Pandya's Test Return

It is worth noting that Hardik Pandya has not played a single Test for India since 2018. The Indian team are looking after Pandya's workload management, and looking at his history with injuries, Hardik has opted to not play the red-ball format.

In the latest events, Parthiv Patel has clarified that Pandya is not looking for a Test return and stated that he only practised with red balls because white balls were not available at the venue.

"I'm not looking at Hardik Pandya (in Tests). He was practising with the red ball only because the white ball wasn't available. I don't think his body allows four-day and five-day matches. He has to play at least one first-class game (before being considered for selection in Tests), which is very unlikely."

Hardik Pandya Likely To Return To Ranji Trophy

Despite Parthiv Patel ruling out any Test return for Pandya, there were reports that he would return to domestic cricket to feature in the upcoming Ranji Trophy edition starting on October 11. According to a report from SportsTak, Pandya is all set to feature for Baroda.

The report also mentioned that Pandya is looking to make comeback to Test cricket for India with the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024. Pandya last featured in the T20 World Cup 2024 final for India and has not played a solitary game for the Men in Blue since then.
