AUS Vs ENG 5th ODI: Team Previews

Australia

Led by Mitchell Marsh, Australia had a fantastic start to the series, securing comprehensive victories in the first two matches. While Travis Head's batting masterclass helped them go one-nil up, a stupendous knock from Alex Carey extended their dominance in the series. However, the Aussies were not at their best in the subsequent affairs.

Despite scoring 304 runs, Australia were let down by their bowlers, with England winning the third ODI by DLS method. The penultimate fixture was one-sided, as the hosts thrashed them by a whopping 186-run margin at Lord's.

In the fourth ODI, Ace pacer Mitchell Starc's poor form haunted the Aussies as Liam Livingstone smacked him to all parts of the ground. Also, given that Australia will miss Cameron Green, the likes of Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne and Glenn Maxwell must step up with the bat to ensure the visitors' fightback.

England

On the other hand, England have showcased remarkable fighting spirit in the series. In Jos Buttler's absence, young batter Harry Brook has captained the Three Lions to perfection. The skipper has led from the front, letting his bat do the talking. Barring Brook, Liam Livingstone has exhibited sublime batting form, frustrating the Aussies with his blistering batting.

Will Jacks and Ben Duckett have also chipped in with valuable knocks, while Phil Salt's abysmal form continues to be a concern for the hosts. Their bowling department looks settled, though, as they have found a way to counter the Aussie batters, including Travis Head.

In particular, Matthew Potts and Brydon Carse have been exceptional with the ball for England. Jofra Archer has also oozed his class, challenging the visitors with his pace and movement. Overall, England seem well-prepared for the challenge as they gear up to sustain their dominance over their struggling Ashes rivals.

AUS Vs ENG 5th ODI: Bristol Pitch Report

The surface in Bristol generally favours the batters, offering marginal assistance to the bowlers. So, expect a flat batting deck with a hint of seam movement for the new ball bowlers. The spinners might get some help across both innings, but the batters can neutralise them at this venue. Considering the overall record, the toss-winner might opt to bowl first.
