Promising spinner Prabath Jayasuriya enjoyed stellar success with the ball, as he registered a sensational five-wicket haul in the ongoing second Test against New Zealand at Galle International Stadium. The left-arm spinner dismantled the visitors' batting unit, adding another fifer to his tally in this process.

Jayasuriya, who played a pivotal role in Sri Lanka's emphatic win in the first Test, began his onslaught with Devon Conway's wicket. He helped the hosts draw the first blood of the day, outfoxing Williamson with a tossed-up delivery

After Nishan Peiris bamboozled Rachin Ravindra and Ajaz Patel, Jayasuriya outfoxed Tom Blundell and Glenn Phillips to sink New Zealand further in the contest. He followed it up with Daryl Mitchell's prized scalp, completing a clinical fifer in this process.

The incident occurred during the 31st over of New Zealand's first innings when the visitors were struggling against Sri Lanka's rampant spin bowling unit. Bowling the fourteenth over of his spell, Jayasuriya initially kept things tight, bowling two consecutive dot balls. Mitchell considered putting the spinner under the pump, as the danced down the track to dispatch his full-length ball into the stands.

However, the Kiwi batter ended up hitting it straight to the long-on, where Angelo Mathews took a simple catch to conclude his brief stay. Before getting out, the right-handed batter scored 13 runs off 15 deliveries.

New Zealand Attain A Shambolic Feat In 2nd Test Vs SL

Riding on Prabath Jayasuriya's spin-bowling masterclass, Sri Lanka bundled out New Zealand for 88 runs in their first innings. This is the BlackCaps' lowest-ever Test total against Sri Lanka. The hosts have enforced the follow-on, deciding to bowl again with plenty of time left in the Test match.
