IPL 2025 mega auction came to a close on Monday night in the mega auction as over 639 crores were spent on 184 players during the mega event. Meanwhile, more than 300 players found no bid and will not be taking part in the upcoming edition of IPL.
At the time when the IPL auction hogged the internet, the Indian talent were looking to shine in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, the premier T20 tournament, organised by the BCCI, as it acted as a trial ground for the youngsters.
While several players benefitted from it, a few failed to get noticed by the franchise despite playing well. This article will shed light on the three players who went unsold despite having a great SMAT.
1. Urvil Patel
Gujarat's Urvil Patel hogged the headlines recently after he smashed the fastest T20 century by an Indian in SMAT. He smashed a 28-ball century against Tripura in Indore.
It was a befitting reply from Patel to IPL franchises as he found no bidders in the auction. He announced himself in style and broke Rishabh Pant's record of the fastest T20 century by an Indian.
Although, apart from the century, Patel is yet to prove himself in the ongoing SMAT season and amassed just 28 runs in the rest of the two games.
2. Mayank Agarwal
Agarwal going unsold also shocked the internet as the right-hand batter was leading a franchise a few years ago. Agarwal was touted to fetch a few crores, but finding no bidder came as an unexpected event.
Agarwal is also having a decent Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy as he scored a fifty against Tripura and also played a 48-run knock against Uttarakhand in his opening match of SMAT.
3. Arpit Guleria
Arpit Guleria recently shone for Himachal Pradesh as he took a five-wicket haul. He registered a spell of 19/5 a day after the IPL auction. Notably, Guleria bound no bidders and went unsold.
In the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, it was Guleria's first match and took a fifer in his solitary game. Also, it is worth noting that Guleria was part of Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2023.
