The Indian team is currently in Australia for the all-important Border-Gavaskar Trophy and India are coming into this game on the back of a thumping win in the opening Test in Perth. The stage is now set for the second Test which is a day-night affair and it is going to be an interesting game as pink-ball tends to seam and swing more, especially under lights.
To prepare for the game, India are going to play two-day pink-ball practice match against Prime Minister's XI. Cricket Australia has announced a 14-member squad for the practice match, and it is full of quality domestic stars who are pushing for a place in the senior squad.
Sam Konstas And Matt Renshaw To Audition For Opening Spot
Sam Konstas and Matt Renshaw both are in the race to open the innings for the senior Australian side. Natan McSweeney failed in the first Test and though he has been selected in the squad for the second Test, he would be under pressure if one of them performs well in the practice match. Renshaw is an experienced cricketer who has played for Australia before while young Konstas has been impressive in his brief domestic career.
The Middle Order will comprise of some experienced middle order batters like Jayden Goodwin, Ollie Davies and Sam Harper who would be looking to make an impression in this game. Jack Clayton will be batting at six while Jack Edwards, the skipper of the side who is a highly rated all-rounder will bat at number sevevn.
Hanno Jacobs will bat at number eight and though he is primarily a bowler, he is a handy batter too. Lloyd Pope will be the lone-spinner in the squad while Mahli Beardman and Scott Boland will be the two frontline seamers.
