On Thursday, November 28, Cricket Australia made a change to their squad and added Australia A star Beau Webster as a back-up for Mitchell Marsh, who suffered an injury scare in the Perth Test that Australia lost by 295 runs.

India will lock horns against Australia for the 2nd Test on December 6 at the Adelaide Oval in a day & night match. Eyes are on Webster who has been impressive in domestic cricket and also shone against India A in the series before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Cummins' Remarks On Webster's Selection Ahead Of BGT

Ahead of his potential debut, the fans are now revisiting Pat Cummins' earlier remarks, when he said that Australia A stars' performance against India A won't have much impact on their Australia selection.

"That last couple of weeks, is it really important? It is got some importance, but it is not going to guide 100 per cent of the decision. So it is that final bit of decision," Cummins had remarked before the start of BGT.

The remarks have aged well as Cricket Australia roped in two players from the Australia A squad to the main team. It is worth noting that Natham McSweeney, who led the Australia A team, made his international debut in the first Test against India. Similarly, Webster is also on the same course.

Webster In Elite List Alongside Legendary Sir Garfield Sobers

In the first Test against India A, McSweeney smashed a century, while Webster scored a fifty-plus score to help Australia A register a comfortable win.  Webster is only the second player in Sheffield Shield history after Sir Gary Sobers to score 900 runs and take 30 wickets in a single season.

It is to be seen whether he will make his debut on December 6 in the second Test.
