Rohit Sharma has lashed out ahis batters in the post-match conference, stating that they were not brave enough to put pressure on the Sri Lankan bowlers.

India needed to win the third ODI to level the series, but the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team were humiliated by a depleted Sri Lankan side, as the Men in Blue lost the match by 110 runs.

The Indian batters struggled against the spinners, so much so that out of the 30 Indian wickets that fell in the series, 27 were scalped by the spinners. A formidable batting lineup was taken down with ease by the Lankan bowlers as India failed to decode the Lankan spin factor.

The only saving grace was Rohit, who scored two half-centuries in the series, and was arguably India's best batter by a country mile. This was India's first series defeat Vs Sri Lanka in 27-years, and Rohit blamed the batters for the loss.

"We all know what the issues are, no point digging deep. It is important to be a bit brave. I don't think we were brave enough throughout the series to put them under a little bit of pressure. That's why we were a bit left lagging behind slightly."

After back-to-back failures in the first two games, the Indian team had a meeting with batters regarding their struggles against the spinners, but the same issue occurred in the final game.

Rohit added: "We all know where we are erring, what we need to improve on. Individually, we have spoken to a lot of players on this topic, that they will get a lot more opportunities to play spin in these conditions. On these wickets, where the pitch is slow, where some balls are turning and some are not, you have to go in with a gameplan."

Despite clean-sweeping the T20I series, India lost the plot in the ODIs, losing 2-1 against the Lankan Lions.
