The Trent Rockets were up against the London Spirit in the 20th match of The Hundred 2024 at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham. The Rockets managed to win the game by 22 runs, however it was not as one-sided an affair as the numbers say.

The Rockets batted first in the game after winning the toss. The former English international, Alex Hales starred with the bat for the Rockets as he scored 68 runs off 42 balls. Carried by Hales along with Tom Banton and Joe Root, the Rockets posted a massive total of 166 in their 100 balls.

In reply, the Spirit lost their way early, as they were unable to find an answer to Rashid Khan. After a more or less steady start, the Spirit were hit by a Rashid storm where they lost three wickets for eight runs in a span of just five deliveries. With the fall of the fifth wicket, Andre Russell walked out into the middle and a lot depended on him at this stage.

Andre Russell dismisses Rashid Khan from his presence

After seeing out the initial few deliveries, Russell decided to unleash the beast within him. The Jamaican monster selected the best bowler of the opposition, Rashid Khan to display his authority. On the second delivery of the 10th set, Russell dismissed the Afghan wrist spinner out of the park with monstrous hit that travelled 103 metres. He followed it up with an even bigger hit within an interval of two deliveries. This time the ball travelled a distance of 107 metres.

Although, he was looking dangerous in the middle, Russell could not take his team across the line in the match as Luke Wood accounted for him in the 13th set of the innings. The London Spirit were ultimately bundled out for 144 with three balls remaining in the game.
