India faced a significant setback in the third ODI match at R. Premadasa Stadium on August 7, with Sri Lanka clinching a historic 110-run victory. 

This defeat marked Sri Lanka's first bilateral series win against India since 1997. The Indian batting lineup struggled against spin throughout the series, culminating in a decisive loss in Colombo.

In the post-match presentation, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma addressed the issues faced by the team. He acknowledged the difficulties posed by the Sri Lankan spinners.

"I don't think it's a concern. But we have to look at it seriously. Individual plans. We were put under the pressure throughout the series. We will talk about it and come up with better plans," he stated.

Sri Lanka set a target of 249 runs, posting a total of 248 for 7 wickets in their 50 overs. Avishka Fernando led the charge with 96 runs off 102 balls, supported by Kusal Mendis (59) and Pathum Nissanka (45)

India's Riyan Parag took three wickets, while Mohammed Siraj, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, and Kuldeep Yadav each claimed one wicket.

In response, India was bowled out for 138 runs in 26.1 overs. Rohit Sharma top-scored with 35 runs, and Washington Sundar contributed 30 runs. No other Indian batter surpassed 20 runs, including Virat Kohli. 

Sri Lanka's Dunith Wellalage was the standout bowler, taking five wickets, while Maheesh Theekshana and Jeffrey Vandersay took two each, and Asitha Fernando claimed one.
