The Champions Trophy 2025 is less than six months away. Preparations for the key fifty-over tournament are in full swing as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has initiated renovation projects in key stadiums such as the Karachi Stadium.

However, it is still unclear whether India will partake in the Champions Trrophy 2025 as the Men in Blue have not travelled to the neighbouring country since 2008 because of security threats.

There has not been any official word from BCCI, but reports suggested that they want a hybrid model similar to Asia Cup 2023 and requested for India games to be held in UAE or Sri Lanka. Recent reports also mentioned that ICC has allocated extra funds to PCB for a possible hybrid model.

However, in the latest events, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has broken his silence on the matter and reaffirmed to the cricketing world that the Champions Trophy 2025 will be held in Pakistan. Naqvi also added that he is in discussions with BCCI secretary Jay Shah and other boards.

“Champions Trophy will be held in Pakistan, we are in touch with the BCCI Secretary. We are also in contact with the boards of the teams participating in the Champions Trophy," Naqvi said as reported by Geo News.

Mohsin Naqvi Speaks On Jay Shah becoming ICC chairman

In August 2024,  the ICC announced that BCCI secretary Jay Shah will replace Greg Barclay as the next ICC chairman and will resume his duties from December 1. Naqvi added that PCB has no apprehensions with Shah securing the top spot within ICC.

"We are in touch with Jay Shah; there are no concerns about his becoming ICC Chairman. The ACC meeting is on September 8 and 9," Naqvi told reporters, as quoted from Geo News.

Naqvi Likely to Replace Jay Shah as ACC President

There are reports that Naqvi might replace Shah as the next ACC president. The discussions will take place in the upcoming meeting, but the PCB chairman won't attend it.
