The cricketing world has been abuzz with speculation about whether India will travel to Pakistan for the prestigious Champions Trophy in 2025, given the strained political relations between the two nations.

While many details are yet to be confirmed by the ICC, questions remain about whether Pakistan will host the tournament, if it will be shifted to another country, or if the ICC will opt for a hybrid model similar to the one used for the Asia Cup 2023.

In a recent discussion, former Pakistan cricketer Kamran Akmal shared his thoughts on the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Akmal, known for his outspoken nature, urged India to participate in the tournament, emphasizing the need to separate sports from politics.

Akmal’s comments have added fuel to the ongoing debate, as he passionately advocated for the spirit of the game to prevail over political tensions. He argued that if teams like Australia could tour Pakistan, there was no reason for India to avoid the competition.

Akmal’s central argument revolved around the idea that sports should transcend political differences.

“I really enjoyed those times. India should travel to Pakistan, and Pakistan should go to India. Let’s keep the political matters aside and play and love cricket,” Akmal told TOI.

He questioned the logic behind India’s reluctance to visit Pakistan, especially when other cricketing powerhouses like Australia have successfully toured the country.

“When a team like Australia can visit Pakistan, why not India?” he asked, highlighting the strides Pakistan has made in ensuring a safe environment for international cricket.

Danish Kaneria Goes Against Akmal on India's Pakistan Visit For Champions Trophy

While Akmal was vocal about his desire for India to participate, former cricketer Danish Kaneria took a different stance. Kaneria expressed concerns about the security situation in Pakistan and suggested that the ICC might consider hosting the event in Dubai instead.

He mentioned that a hybrid model, where some matches are held in Pakistan and others in Dubai, could be a viable solution.
