Harbhajan Singh who has been vocal about the flood issues in North Indian states, suggested the BCCI to take initiatives for victims of the devastation. After attending the BCCI AGM, Harbhajan Singh shared his thoughts regarding the floods affected lives in the region.
Former India off spinner's suggestion for flood victims
Speaking to Gourav Gupta he said, “I have suggested to the BCCI to do something for the victims of the devastation caused by flooding In North Indian states like Punjab.”
Harbhajan Singh has been active in the flood relief efforts for his home state Punjab and other neighbouring states. North Indian states like Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh have been massively affected by floods caused by monsoon rains. Landslides and flash floods blocked the road and caused direct and indirect damages to the people in that area. The veteran Indian cricketer has been in the headlines for actively working in the flood relief work since the beginning.
Harbhajan shares thoughts about new President of BCCI
The BCCI AGM meanwhile elected the next president of the Board of Control for Cricket unopposed on Sunday in Mumbai. Former Delhi Cricketer, Mithun Manhas became the 37th BCCI president after succeeding Roger Binny.
"When a cricketer heads a cricket body, his experience and other qualities help. It’s a good decision and it’s been happening for the last three terms which is a great thing for the cricketers as well for him to give something back to the game."
Rajeev Shukla became the vice-president whereas Devajit Saikia was elected honourary secretary and Prabhtej Singh Bhatia took the joint secretary role. A Raghuram Bhat was appointed the new treasurer. Speaking of the same, Harbhajan Singh told PTI after the AGM,
