Fans on social media strongly opposed the decision of PVR INOX to screen the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 final between India and Pakistan live. The flak came after fans had decided to boycott the game.

Since the beginning of the tournament, Indian fans have been against playing Pakistan. Yet, both teams clashed twice, in the group and super four stages. Both times, the players refrained from interactions, handshakes or any kind of sportsmanship.

Live screening of India-Pakistan final sets the internet on fire

Ahead of the Asia Cup 2025 finals scheduled between India and Pakistan on September 28, PVR Inox announced that it’ll screen the match live across 100+ screens across the country.

The announcement left fans in shock. Many accused the agency of minting money rather than safeguarding national sentiment, as just weeks earlier, people wanted to boycott India-Pakistan games.

A lot of fans exposed the dual standards of such companies that favour capitalism over nationalism. Not only that, Pakistan fans also joined the trend to mock India and their ‘boycott’ calls.

"PAKISTAN VS INDIA WILL BE SHOWN ON 100+ CINEMA SCREENS IN INDIA ..!! -Just 2 games and the "boycott gang" turned into "ticket booking gang" Fake deshbhakti vanished, now it’s all about popcorn & big screens😅" - @dhillow_

"This is the state of affairs, no one’s gonna burn those halls, no crowd is gonna chant slogans, no toda fodi, no gundas to show off for this all your nationalism is just capitalism in disguise. this is just what you’re. ABSOLUTELY WILE. This is TREASON" - @quacky_batak

While the actions continue on the ground, the situation off the field remains grim. Haris Rauf, Sahibzada Farhan and Suryakumar Yadav were pulled up by the ICC for political statements and controversial gestures.

PCB and ACC chairman Mohsin Naqvi has been anything but neutral, as his actions have further added to the tense environment.

Now, according to a report, India is unlikely to accept the Asia Cup 2025 trophy from Naqvi if they win on Sunday.
