In a significant development, former Delhi cricketer Mithun Manhas has officially taken charge as the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The announcement was made following the conclusion of the BCCI’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Mumbai on Sunday (September 28, 2025).

Mithun Manhas Elected As The 37th President Of BCCI

Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh also shared a post regarding this on X. He congratulated the new BCCI president. It is worth noting that Manhas succeeded Roger Binny, who stepped down from the post after reaching the age of 70.

“A momentous occasion to celebrate! Mithun Manhas has been officially declared as the new President of the ‘Board of Control for Cricket in India’ BCCI, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh posted on Twitter (now X). What a providential Sunday for the erstwhile district of Doda, one of the remotest parts of Jammu & Kashmir, which incidentally also happens to be my own home district. Within a gap of few hours, first a daughter of Kishtwar, Sheetal, shines out as World Champion and soon thereafter a son of Bhaderwah, Mithun stands atop,” Dr Jitendra Singh added.

Manhas is the first person from Jammu and Kashmir to head the BCCI and also the first uncapped player to have taken charge of the cricket board in India.

It is important to mention that Manhas is a former Delhi cricketer. He has played 157 First-Class, 130 List A and 55 IPL matches. He has made 9714 runs in FC matches, including 27 centuries, and scored 4126 runs in List A cricket.
