Vaibhav Suryavanshi achieved new milestone against Australia on Wednesday. He broke the record for the most career sixes in Youth ODI during his 70-run knock off 68 balls for the U-19 Indian cricket team.

New record for Vaibhav Suryavanshi

In Brisbane, Vaibhav Suryavanshi played an impactful innings against Australia to give India U-19 a strong platform at the Ian Healy Oval. His innings was studded with five fours and six maximums. He completed his half-century in 54 balls and was looking flawless before being dismissed b y Australia captain Yash Deshmukh. This innings was the second impactful one by Vaibhav followed by his 38 off 22 in the first ODI against Australia.

With his fourth six of the innings, he surpassed Unmukt Chand’s tally of 38 from 21 matches and recorded his 41st maximum. The 14-year-old Indian youngster took just 10 innings to go past former Under-19 India cricket team captain Unmukt Chand. Interestingly the Indian cricket prodigy has amassed 540 runs in Youth ODIs with 26% of his total runs coming from boundaries.

Vaibhav is currently topping the chart followed by Unmukt Chand (India), Zawad Abrar (Bangladesh), Shahzaib Khan (Pakistan), Tawhid Hridoy (Bangladesh), and Yashasvi Jaiswal (India). Abrar and Shahzaib have 35 and 31 sixes respectively while Hridoy and Yashasvi have 30 each to their name.

Among Indians, Yashasvi Jaiswal has the third-most maximums in Youth ODIs with 30 sixes in 27 matches between 2018 and 2020. Both Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi represent Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi continues to impress

Vaibhav Suryavanshi, so far, has been one of the brightest youngsters of Indian cricket. His cricket journey has been remarkable with some record-breaking moments. His IPL debut with Rajasthan Royals became at an early age of 14 years and 23 days. He became the youngest IPL centurion nine days after his debut and stunned everyone with a 35-ball 100 against Gujarat Titans. In IPL 2025, he scored 252 runs in just seven games at a strike rate of 206.56.

The Super Striker of IPL 2025 season continued to impress all with his achievements. Earlier this year, he became the highest run-scorer in the five-match series between India U19 and England U19. In the Youth ODI 2025 series, he accumulated 355 runs in five matches against England at an average of 71.00 and a strike rate of 174.01.

With143 off 78 balls in the fourth Youth ODI against England Vaibhav also became the youngest centurion in the format’s history. He century came in just 52 balls which also made him making the fastest centurion U19 Men’s ODIs.
