Afghanistan star Rahmanullah Gurbaz recently made a huge claim about Indian cricketer and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) teammate Rinku Singh. Gurbaz, who shares a close friendship with Rinku, claimed that the latter has it in him to carry forward the legacy of legendary players MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh for Indian cricket.

Gurbaz hails Rinku Singh, makes big claim

Rahmanullah Gurbaz praised Rinku Singh and added that he shares a great camaraderie with the Indian star. During the Afghanistan team’s three-match T20I tour to India in January 2024, the two cricketers were often spotted together, be it for their on-field interactions or off-field pranks.

While speaking with Sports Tak, Gurbaz even made a huge claim that Rinku has the ability to carry forward the legacies of legendary finishers MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh. He said:

“Rinku Singh is the kind of person who makes everyone happy. He is a really funny guy, a great guy. I really love him. We have a great friendship. He can carry forward the legacy of MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh.”

This is not the first instance this week where a cricketer has drawn comparisons between Rinku and former Indian captain MS Dhoni. Legendary all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin recently described the hard-hitting Indian batsman as a ‘left-handed Dhoni.’

Rinku Singh and Rahmanullah Gurbaz are set to reunite through the KKR franchise for the forthcoming IPL 2024 season. The two cricketers were retained by the KKR team management back in November 2023, alongside franchise seniors Shreyas Iyer, Sunil Narine, and Andre Russell, among others.

The much-awaited IPL 2024 will likely commence from March 29 onwards.
