Perth Scorchers fast bowler Andrew Tye bagged the wicket of in-form Matthew Short with an absolute peach delivery to put his team on top against Adelaide Strikers in a crucial BBL knockout game.

To book a place in the 13th season of the Big Bash League, Perth Scorchers and Adelaide Strikers locked horns in a pivotal knockout game earlier today. The Scorchers won the bat flip contest and elected to bowl first in the high-stakes game.

The team’s lead pacer, Jason Behrendorff, drew first blood with a remarkable slipping catch. He removed D. Arcy Short as Scorchers sensed an opening.

Immediately, captain Aaron Hardie called Andrew Tye from the other end with the hope of a breakthrough.

Well, Tye lived up to his captain’s expectations as he cleaned up none other than the in-form Strikers’ opener Matthew Short.

Tye took the pace off and bowled a knuckle delivery at yorker length. While the execution was an uphill task, the fast bowler nailed the yorker as Short was beaten from all fronts. He was beaten by the pace and didn’t expect the length to be so fullish. Not only that, Matthew Short failed to land his bat onto the ground in time as stumps rattled behind his back.

Meanwhile, Andrew Tye was ecstatic after executing the gutsy plan, and the entire Scorchers side joined him in celebrations.

That being said, a couple of early breakthroughs put a lot of pressure on the Strikers as they failed to build healthy partnerships and summed up the first inning with a decent target of 155.

Perth Scorchers need to chase down the total in the next 20 overs to book a spot in the final and move a step closer to recording the sixth title finish.
