One of the shining lights in Indian cricket over the last year or so has been Rinku Singh. In the third and final T20I against Afghanistan last evening at Bangalore, Singh once again pulled India out of a deep ditch, earning praise from head coach Rahul Dravid for his stellar performance.

With India reeling on 22 for 4, Rinku joined Rohit Sharma to stitch an unbeaten 190-run stand, which led to the home side posting 213, where the former scored 69* and the latter scored 121*.

Rinku came into the Indian team after an outstanding Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, and since T20I debut has slammed 356 runs in 15 matches.

Speaking to Sports18, Dravid stated how Rinku showcased maturity and displayed calmness in the middle, pushing himself past challenging situations.

Yeah, Rinku Singh's been terrific - Rahul Dravid

“Yeah, he's been terrific. For someone who is just starting off his career in international cricket, started off in August or September, it's just been a few months. But the maturity and calmness he's showing, we've always seen him come at the back end of the innings and finish games off but today was a great test for him to come in at 22 for 4 and just build that partnership and show what he can do at the back end."

"One of the good things about Rinku is that he's very clear about his skills, what he knows, what his strengths are, what he needs to work on, and how he needs to go about it."

The 26-year-old has also played two ODIs for India, scoring 38 runs. Meanwhile, Rinku who took two catches in the second super-over to help India win last evening, will next be seen in IPL 2024 turning up for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
