Shoaib Malik's announcement of a third marriage on Saturday (January 20) with Pakistan actress Sana Javed has once again raised speculations of the cricketer divorcing his second wife and India tennis legend Sania Mirza.

Even though the former Pakistan captain tied the knot with Sana and posted images of the same on his social media feed, it wasn't clear if the wedding had taken place after he had divorced Mirza. However, indications are that the famed couple has entirely separated.

A source privy to the developments within Malik's family told PTI that "it was Khula" from Mirza's end, which signifies the religious right of a Muslim woman to divorce her husband unilaterally. However, the couple has never publicly confirmed whether they have broken ties.

Sania-Malik Separation Rumour Persists

Rumours of Sania and Malik undergoing divorce and legal separation have been rife since 2022, with the differences between the two reaching a boiling point. The two have not been captured together publicly in the past two years.

It is understood that Shoaib unfollowed Sania on his Instagram handle while changing his bio from 'Husband to a superwoman Sania Mirza' to 'Father to One True Blessing.' On her part, Sania had earlier indicated separation via a cryptic post.

"Marriage is hard. Divorce is hard. Choose your hard," Sania posted.

"Life will never be easy. It will always be hard. Choose your hard. Pick wisely."

As is known, Malik and Sania married each other back in 2010. The couple also announced the birth of their son - Izhaan Mirza Malik - in 2018 and were together until 2022. Since then, they have been co-parenting their son while divorcing each other, with Malik's third marriage confirming a broken connection.
