In the upcoming second qualifier match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, it's Sanju Samson's Rajasthan Royals (RR) facing  Cummins' Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Chennai.

Tonight marks the penultimate game of IPL 2024, a season filled with thrilling encounters. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have already secured their spot in the finals, leaving the other finalist to be decided in tonight's showdown.

Rajasthan Royals are riding high on momentum after a convincing victory against RCB in the eliminator, while Sunrisers Hyderabad faced defeat against KKR in the first qualifier.

Rematch of thriller happened at Hyderabad?

The upcoming SRH vs RR match at Chepauk is expected to be a close battle, given both teams' consistent performances in IPL 2024. Their last face-off in Hyderabad was a testament to their closely matched quality.

In that game, SRH clinched a thrilling one-run victory, largely due to Bhuvneshwar Kumar's superb bowling. With just 2 runs needed from the final ball, Bhuvneshwar dismissed Rovman Powell, sealing the win for SRH. Had RR won, they would've secured a top 2 spot.

Batting first, SRH posted a formidable total of 201/3 in their allotted 20 overs. Nitish Reddy (76 from 42 balls), Heinrich Klaasen (42 from 19), and Travis Head (58 from 44) contributed crucial runs, took SRH to a mammoth score.

However, despite impressive fifties from Yashasvi Jaiswal (40-ball 67) and Riyan Parag (49-ball 77) in their chase, RR fell short of the target, unable to secure the victory.

RR to miss Buttler

Rajasthan Royals will be without Jos Buttler, as he has departed for England for the Pakistan series. However, the resurgence of Jaiswal and the in-form Samson-Parag duo will improve RR's chances.

On the other hand, SRH will be eager to rectify their mistakes from the previous match against KKR and stage a comeback at Chepauk.

It's worth noting that both teams have suffered defeats at Chepauk this season against CSK.
