The camaraderie shared between players often remains unseen behind the competitive veneer of international cricket. However, every so often, moments peek through, revealing the genuine friendships that flourish off the field. A perfect example of this off-field bonding is Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan, two of Indian cricket's most promising talents.

Gill and Kishan's playful slaps turned heads and broke the internet

Known for their fierce competitiveness on the pitch, Gill and Kishan share a friendship that goes beyond the on-field competitiveness, often indulging in light-hearted banter that has delighted fans and lit up social media on numerous occasions.

During the IPL 2023, this camaraderie was once again on full display, providing a heartwarming incident for fans. The incident unfolded at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, during a practice session where the duo's teams came together.

As Shubman Gill made his entrance onto the field, Ishan Kishan greeted him with a cheeky slap, a gesture that was met with laughter rather than animosity. Not one to be outdone, Gill later reciprocated in kind, ensuring the playful exchange didn't go unanswered. This entire episode of fun, laughter, and light-hearted slaps was captured in a video and subsequently shared by Mumbai Indians on their social media platforms, much to the amusement of fans.

Amidst the playful antics, both players have been going through their professional journeys with varying degrees of success. Gill, on one hand, has recently clawed back to form with a stunning century, scoring 104 runs off 147 balls against England in the second Test at Vizag. This performance not only highlighted his talent but was important in India securing a victory, thereby levelling the series at 1-1. Gill's resurgence is a promising sign for the Indian team, as they look to him to continue his fine form in upcoming matches.

On the other hand, Kishan's recent trajectory has been mired in controversy. His commitment to his international duties has come under scrutiny following his withdrawal from a crucial series against South Africa and the ongoing Test series against England.

Instead, Kishan has been spotted training with Hardik and Krunal Pandya in Baroda, with speculations rife about his immediate focus on the upcoming IPL season with Mumbai Indians. Further complicating matters are reports suggesting that the BCCI is considering terminating his Grade C central contract worth ₹1 Crore.
