Ishan Kishan To Be Released From BCCI's Central Contracts: Reports

India's dynamic wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan, who has been absent from the game for a prolonged period since December last year, is likely to face the brunt of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for staying out of action for too long.

Citing mental fatigue, Ishan took a break from cricket after the T20I series against Australia and, since then, hasn't made himself available for selection, with team management and board members having no clue about his potential comeback.

Recently, Indian head coach Rahul Dravid stated in a press conference that the left-hander will have to play in the Ranji Trophy in order to be picked up for the England Test series. However, there have been no signs of him returning to action.

Some reports suggest that BCCI are making it compulsory for all senior players to feature in the Ranji Trophy if they are fit and not in the national setup for the upcoming matches so that players who are already in the 'IPL' mode get back on the field.

Further, another report claims that Ishan Kishan could face BCCI's axe as he could be pulled out of his Grade C contract as all contracts are set for renewal. This comes at a time when Ishan was last seen practicing with the Pandya Brothers (Hardik and Krunal) at Kiran More Academy, potentially hinting at his return to the IPL.

Meanwhile, India, already weakened by the absence of Virat Kohli and Mohammed Shami, is playing with KS Bharat as the keeper in the series against England. Although Ishan would have been the first choice if he had been with the squad.
