Cricket is a game between the bat and ball, but often, batters steal the limelight, and the bowler remains under-credited. In the latest events, West Indies legend Curtly Ambrose has opened up on bowlers not getting their due and name-dropped Wasim Akram as his favourite bowler.

In a recent media interaction of the Falcons, arranged by Parimatch, the anchor asked Ambrose whether he felt that bowlers were never given the due they deserved, to which the legendary seamer agreed. "When it comes to choosing favourite cricketers,  the fans pick batters, be it Sachin Tendulkar or Viv Richards, what is your take on it?" asked the anchor.

"Yes, I sometimes do feel that. 90% of the times it is batters. I have played with some of the best batters in the world, but being a bowler, I will always be leaned towards a bowler. We have had some great bowlers, and Wasim Akram was one of my favourites," remarked Ambrose.

Curtly Ambrose Sheds Light On His Playing Years

During the candid conversation, Ambrose opened up and remarked that no batter from his playing years gave him sleepless nights.

"No one. I have played cricket with some of the greats, but I never thought of cricket once I was out of the ground. Until, the next morning when I had to go back to the field to do my job. So, as far as sleepless nights are concerned, absolutely no one."

Ambrose's Contribution to West Indies Cricket And Current Role

Ambrose has featured in 98 Tests for the Windies and taken 405 wickets. He will go down in history as one of the best bowlers of all time. He is currently the bowling coach of Antigua & Barbuda Falcons.

However, the Falcons have failed to put his coaching into use as they have lost their opening four matches of CPL 2024 and are placed last on the table.
