Pakistan batter, Babar Azam has suffered more humiliation after the latest ICC rankings were released. After a horrendous series with the bat against Bangladesh, Babar has dropped out of the top 10 in the latest Test rankings.

Babar hasn't scored a Test fifty since December 2022

The 29-year-old has dropped down three places to 12th position with a rating of 712 points. The elegant batter could only score 64 runs in two Test matches against Bangladesh, and failed to register a single fifty-plus score as his team were whitewashed by a resilient opposition.

His last fifty-plus scores in Test cricket came way back in December 2022, and since then has struggled to replicate his old form. Meanwhile, his teammate, Mohammad Rizwan is still the best rated Pakistani batter in the rankings, staying at the 10th position.

Rizwan was arguably Pakistan's best batter throughout the series and maintained his Test position

The Indian trio of Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli have maintained their rankings (6th, 7th, and 8th), and will be eyeing the top spot as they gear up to face Bangladesh in a two-match Test series, starting this month.

Root etches closer to Don Bradman

17 Test centuries in the last 3 years and there is no stopping Joe Root. The former English captain slammed twin centuries in the recently concluded Lord's Test against Sri Lanka, and sits at the top of the rankings with 922 ratings, just one point away from his career-best rating of 923, he achieved in July 2022.

Also, he now eyes Don Bradman's all-time best rating point in Tests (961), and has an excellent chance to eclipse it, with a game still left against Sri Lanka and the much-anticipated series against Pakistan coming up next month.
