With England and Australia scheduled to look horns in their limited over series right ahead of the Indian Premier League, several stars including Steve Smith, Jofra Archer and Pat Cummins are set to miss out on the first few games of the cash-rich league. The limited-overs fixtures are scheduled to begin on the 4th of September and will see the last game being played on the 16th of the same month.

Keeping in mind the Covid precaution guidelines, the players would be quarantined for six days after their arrival in the United Arab Emirates and would have to test negative for the virus three times. Only then they would be allowed to enter the bio-secure bubble for the rest of the tournament, which would be around 26 September at the earliest, seven days after the tournament begins on 19 September.

Several of these stars have over time become mainstays for their respective teams and given their prowess in their craft the teams would surely have to rethink and re-strategise.

Currently, 29 players from these countries are contracted with 8 IPL squads with Pat Cummins earning the highest bid for the 2020 edition from the Kolkata Knight Riders at a jaw-dropping Rs 15.5 crores.
