Najmul Shanto Dropped As Bangladesh Reveal Squad For T20Is Vs Sri Lanka

In a shocking turn of events, the Bangladesh selectors have dropped Najmul Hossain Shanto from their T20I squad for the Sri Lanka series. On Friday, a 16-member squad was announced for the tour and surprisingly, there was no Shanto in the side as the Tigers aim to bounce back after the drubbing in Test series.

The batter opted out of the Bangladesh captaincy, a few months earlier and since then, the Tigers have played two series with Shanto only playing in a solitary match Vs UAE, and was dropped from the Pakistan series.

Shanto has been going through a rough patch as of late and after the series defeat against Sri Lanka, he relinquished the Test captaincy as he wanted to focus more on his batting which was getting affected.

Bangladesh squad for Sri Lanka T20Is

Litton Das (Captain), Tanzid Tamim, Parvez Emon, Naim Sheikh, Towhid Hridoyy, Jaker Ali , Shamim Hossain, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Rishad Hossain, Shak Mahedi Hasan, Nasum Ahmed, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Mohammad Saifuddin.

Opener, Naim Sheikh gets rewarded for his stellar domestic performance and gets a place in the team. Also, a surprising inclusion takes place as Mohammad Saifuddin earns his place but Nahid Rana, Hasan Mahmud and Khaled Ahmed get dropped from the squad.

Taskin Ahmed returns in Bangladesh T20I squad

Injury-prone pacer, Taskin Ahmed returns to the Bangladesh team and will spearhead the bowling attack against the Lankan Lions. He last played a T20I match against West Indies, last December and finally breaks into the team again. Left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed was preferred instead of Tanvir Islam, who was part of the squad that played against Pakistan in May.
