Team India’s white-ball plans have hit a pause. The highly anticipated limited-overs series against Bangladesh, scheduled for August 2025, has been postponed. As a result, fans are now left wondering: when will their favourite superstars play their next white-ball series? Let’s break it down.

Bangladesh Series Postponed to 2026

India were set to play three ODIs and three T20Is against Bangladesh in August 2025, their first white-ball assignment after lifting the Champions Trophy 2025 in March. It would’ve marked the return of seasoned stars like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who now feature only in ODIs.

However, due to scheduling issues and prior commitments, both cricket boards, the BCCI and the BCB, agreed to postpone the series to September 2026. While the development is disappointing, the decision could help both teams manage their jam-packed calendars.

What Comes Next For India?

With the Bangladesh tour now off the table for more than a year, the focus shifts to two major events:

1. Asia Cup 2025 (T20Is)

Although the exact dates are yet to be confirmed, reports suggest that the Asia Cup 2025 is likely to start on September 5 and end on September 21. The tournament will follow a hybrid model, with matches played in the UAE instead of India, as both India and Pakistan prefer neutral venues for their matches.

This means India will return to T20I action in early September, potentially clashing with Pakistan at least twice, a matchup that always excites fans.

2. Australia Tour (ODIs & T20Is)

For fans waiting to see Kohli and Rohit back in action, mark your calendars for October 2025. India will tour Australia for three ODIs and five T20Is starting October 19. With India tour of Bangladesh no longer happening, this will be India’s first ODI series since the Champions Trophy, and a crucial one in the build-up to future ICC events.

After the Australia tour, India will host South Africa from November to December later this year for two Tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is, making it another packed series featuring all formats.
