All eyes will be on star cricketer Sanju Samson as the player auction for the second season of the Kerala Cricket League (KCL) will be held in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday, July 5, 2025. Samson, who avoided the first season, is likely to trigger a bidding battle among the six franchises.

The auction includes a combination of experienced players and young hopefuls. Players such as Kerala U-19 captain Ahmed Imran, U-19 player Mohammed Enaan, and teen sensation Jaivin Jackson have won the hearts of fans and scouts alike.

Jaivin, aged only 16, is the youngest player in the group, and K.J Rakesh, aged 42, is the oldest.

Sanju Samson Likely To Be Hot Pick In KCL Auction

Veteran Indian cricketer and Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson, who skipped the inaugural KCL season, is expected to spark a bidding war in this year's auction.

With 156 players going under the hammer and bigger budgets this year, teams are eager to grab top talents. Samson could break the KCL record for the most expensive player, which currently stands at INR 7.4 lakh, paid by Trivandrum Royals for M.S. Akhil last season.

Having Samson in the squad could elevate any franchise’s winning odds, as his presence as a wicket-keeper, batter, and captain is invaluable.

Six franchises, Kochi Blue Tigers, Thrissur Titans, Trivandrum Royals, Aires Kollam Sailors, Alleppey Ripples, and Calicut Globstars, must buy a minimum of 16 and a maximum of 20 players.

Alleppey Ripples' Head Coach Eyes Samson’s Services

Sanju Samson's entry into the Kerala Cricket League (KCL) Season 2 has created a major buzz ahead of the July 5 auction. A Kerala cricket icon, Samson skipped the first season but is now the most sought-after player.

Alleppey Ripples' new head coach, Sony Cheruvathur, talking to MyKhel, has openly expressed his desire to have Samson in the squad, calling it a dream combination with Mohammad Azharuddeen. Cheruvathur said Sanju is definitely part of their auction plans, though outcomes remain unpredictable. Samson’s presence is expected to boost the tournament’s popularity and attract massive attention from fans and franchises alike this season.
