In the latest rankings released by the International Cricket Council, Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga has made quick gains in the T20I bowling rankings to achieve his career-best second rank. Wanindu overtook Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan to reach the top two on the list.
In the T20I bowler’s ranking, leg spinners dominate the top 10 positions with as much as six of them being part of it. The list is headed by a chinaman, South Africa’s Tabraiz Shamsi. Apart from Wanindu, Rashid and Shamsi, Adil Rashid (fourth), Adam Zampa (seventh) and Ish Sodhi (ninth) are the other three leg spinners.
In the latest ODI rankings though, Australian pacers have been rewarded for their brilliant showing in the Caribbean where they helped the team win the ODI series 2-1.
Josh Hazlewood, who got five wickets in the series and bowled significantly well has now moved up to the second rank in the ODI bowlers’ list while Mitchell Starc, with 211 wickets in the series and a Man of the Series Award to his name has stormed into the top from his position of 18th prior to this series. The ODI list is headed by New Zealand’s Trent Boult.
No significant change was seen in the top of the batters and allrounder’s list.
