'If He Manages Him..', Ex-KKR Star Expects 'This' CSK Bowler To Dismiss Shubman Gill in IPL Final

The much-anticipated IPL 2023 final will witness two formidable teams, Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans, take on each other at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad. We expect a nail-biting clash tonight, with both teams studded with some T20 superstars.

Talking about Gujarat Titans, the defending champions have enjoyed stellar success in the tournament. Shubman Gill has been exceptional with the bat for GT, amassing 851 runs at an average of 60.79 and a blistering strike rate of 156.43.

As the youngster aims to eclipse Virat Kohli's tally of 973 runs to record the most runs in a single IPL season, former Indian opener Aakash Chopra has named the biggest threat to him in the IPL final.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Chopra reckoned that ace CSK seamer Deepak Chahar could emerge as Gill's nemesis in this game, considering his ability to swing the new ball both ways. However, he predicted that if the promising batter survives Chahar's new-ball burst, he could play another game-changing knock for his side.

Here's what Chopra said

"This guy (Gill) is batting differently. He is not the crowned prince, he has already become the king. Can he break Kohli's 900-plus season's record? He will have to again score 122 runs for that. He has struck three centuries in his last four innings."

"The only problem that he has is the law of averages. Other than that, no one can stop this guy. If he can manage the new ball at the start, which he can do, Deepak Chahar is the only threat, but if he manages him, this player will hit again. He is an extremely mighty player."

Chopra seems astute in his assessment as Chahar has dismissed Gill thrice in T20 cricket. However, as the batter is in sublime form, the on-field battle between these two Indian players will be worth-watching tonight.
