Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Faf du Plessis admitted in the post-match interview that the last 5 overs of their batting and the Powerplay with the ball contributed to his side's defeat to the Mumbai Indians in a high-scoring encounter at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday night.

RCB were 146/4 at the start of the 15th over, with du Plessis still at the crease, but with his immediate dismissal and the inability of the likes of Dinesh Karthik and Kedar Jadhav, they could only post 199 at the end of 20.

Du Plessis expressed his disappointment at the fact they couldn't get a strong finish despite a great foundation laid by him and Glenn Maxwell.

This, and the first 6 overs with the ball, where Ishan Kishan took RCB's pacers apart, basically decided the game, reckoned Du Plessis.

"I think we were at least 20 runs short, in context of the wicket. They are a strong chasing team and they bat deep. We didn't capitalise in the last five overs, disappointed due to the lack of runs in those five overs. You need to say 200 is a good score (to motivate the players), needed to make sure you take the pace off. They capitalized the first 6 overs with the pace on,"

RCB seemed to have fought back with quick dismissals of Ishan and Rohit, but Nehal Wadheta and then SuryaKumar Yadav proceeded to knock the stuffing out of their attack- especially Surya- with their no-holds barred attack.

Surya raced his way to a majestic 35-ball 83 while Wadhera also racked up a 34-ball 52.

The RCB skipper was full of praise for Suryakumar Yadav.

"He (SKY) is one of the best, when he gets going, it's difficult to shut him down. Siraj has been fantastic in the first half of IPL. He got away with it for a really long time, but the guys are going to come out and play positively. Towards the back end of the tournament when the wickets get slower, you need to make sure you are around 60 runs in the first 6 overs."

Courtesy of this hammering, RCB have now slipped to the 7th spot in the points table. They will now face the Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on May 14.
