CWI Suspends Ronsford Beaton For Illegal Bowling Action

Cricket West Indies (CWI) has suspended pacer Ronsford Beaton from bowling after being reported for illegal action during a First-Class match. The West Indies pacer's action was reported by match officials in last weekend's West Indies Championship four-day competition between Guyana Harpy Eagles and Jamaica Scorpions.
In a statement, CWI confirmed after a report by an Independent Assessor, Dr Mark King, who works at Loughborough University, that Beaton's bowling action exceeded the permitted level of tolerance as per ICC rules, and the pacer should be suspended with immediate effect and not be allowed to bowl in domestic and league cricket worldwide.
The 30-year-old was banned by the ICC in 2017 and only resumed bowling in 2018 after remedial work on his action.
Despite being a star at the 2012 Under19 World Cup, Beaton played just two ODIs for the Windies, picking up a solitary wicket.
The Montserrat-born has played for Guyana Amazon Warriors and the Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League.
In the ongoing four-day tournament, Beaton is the second-highest wicket-taker for his side Guyana with 18 wickets, behind Veerasammy Permaul (22). They are currently playing against the Leeward Islands in Match No.14 of the championship.
