India's opening batter and skipper of the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), KL Rahul hasn't been in the best of his form in recent times. The right-hander after two awful Tests against Australia was dropped from the third game in Indore where he was replaced by the young gun Shubman Gill.

However, after that, in the recent jersey launch event of the franchise, Rahul was seen alongside the side's owner Sanjiv Goenka with former Indian cricketer and LSG's mentor Gautam Gambhir where they talked about the team's plan going ahead.

Nevertheless, the talking point from the occasion was something said by the captain who engaged with the host during a conversation. The 30-year-old reckoned that strike rates are very much overrated in the format as the emphasis should be on the match situation and he did so by quoting an example.

Further, something similar was iterated by him during the 2020 season of the cash-rich extravaganza as even at that time, he expected his former side Punjab Kings to focus on winning the games.

"I think strike rate is over-rated. But it depends upon the demand, like if you chase 140 - you don't need to go with 200 strike rate - it depends upon the current situation."

Lucknow's IPL campaign will begin against Delhi Capitals on 1st of April where they will be playing their first-ever home game.
