England succumbed to a 1-4 Ashes drubbing in Australia earlier this month after losing the fifth Test by five wickets at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). The disappointing campaign has since triggered a detailed review by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), with fresh reports now revealing concerns over player discipline and off-field conduct during the high-profile series.

At one point during the series, a video surfaced showing England opener Ben Duckett appearing intoxicated and struggling to find an Uber, further fuelling concerns over the team’s off-field behaviour.

Report presents damning findings of England players conduct in Ashes 2025-26

As per a Telegraph report, several England players frequently visited casinos during the 2025-26 Ashes series in Australia, doing so in the presence of ‘England fans and other punters’, thus disobeying direct orders from team captain Ben Stokes.

The report also suggested that the England camp stayed at Crown Towers, a casino complex in Australia, leading to the players visiting those casinos and on occasions, even indulging in excessive beer consumption.

Moreover, the report also stated that several England players drank for six days straight and took a short trip to Noosa. In another instance, young Jacob Bethell also hogged the spotlight for the wrong reasons as he was caught on camera vaping during a night out with teammates before the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne.

Warning signs before the Ashes

The pattern of controversial off-field behaviour had begun to surface even a month before the Ashes, when England’s ODI captain Harry Brook was reportedly involved in an altercation during the series against New Zealand.

Brook’s demeanor, coupled with the reports of England players taking a trip to Noosa despite being 0-2 down in the Ashes series has only reinforced perceptions of a lack of discipline and focus within the camp during a critical phase of the tour.
