Good for cricket, if Asia Cup 2023 is shifted out of Pakistan: Abdul Razzaq

The war of words between former Pakistan and India players continues to gain mileage, following the BCCI's refusal to tour their neighbours for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023.

A recent Asian Cricket Council meeting as per sources saw both the BCCI and PCB reach a deadlock over the much-debated topic. As a surprise, former Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq said that moving the tournament moving out of Pakistan would be good for cricket. 

The Indian cricket team has not traveled to Pakistan since 2005-06 following geo-political tensions.  The final call on Asia Cup venue will be taken next month by the ACC.

Speaking to GEO News, Razzaq, however, maintained that both boards should sit and resolve the issue.

Here's what Razzaq said

"It’s good for cricket. And for cricket promotion. India-Pakistan games only happen in ICC tournaments. If Asia Cup has been shifted to Dubai, then it’s best option. It’s good for cricket and cricketers."

Earlier, former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad criticised India for not touring Pakistan with harsh words, forcing backlash from fans across the border. 

Current India player Ravichandran Ashwin and former pacer Venkatesh Prasad responded to Miandad's remarks in their own straightforward fashion.
