To the delight of cricket fans, Australia's much-awaited tour of India begins on the ninth of this month.

With the Aussies touring India after more than five years, a lot of buzz is going on regarding the playing conditions.

Generally, India dish out turning tracks to capitalise on home advantage. So, fans and experts are speculating a similar strategy from the home team throughout this series.

However, ahead of the first Test in Nagpur, former Indian spinner Murali Kartik has warned the hosts of the consequence of spinning decks.

Kartik, who played an important role in the 2004 home series against Australia, reminded India of their recent struggles on spin-friendly pitches, advising them to think twice before preparing a rank-turner in Nagpur.

"Playing spinners on a flat deck is not the problem. We have to admit that our batters have struggled against quality spin bowling on pitches that have offered turn. I don't know what kind of decks will be on offer but rank turners could backfire."

Kartik's take seems logical as India crumbled like a pack of cards on a turning track in Pune against the same opponents back in 2017.

With Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant being unavailable, the Indian batting lineup looks a bit unreliable against spinners.

So, a riveting battle awaits us when the host batters face Nathan Lyon and co on the dry Nagpur surface in the series opener.
