In what could be a massive blow to Perth Scorchers, ace pacer Jhye Richardson has been ruled out of the qualifier game against Sydney Sixers scheduled on Saturday.

The seamer was sidelined for an indefinite period after sustaining a hamstring injury earlier in the tournament. But he was progressing well and was in line to mark his return in the all-important qualifier.

However, in the latest development, Western Australia Cricket state medical officer Dr Tom Hill has clarified that Richardson hasn't recovered in time and will miss the face-off.

Dr Hill also provided positive updates on Matt Kelly, who missed a few matches due to a concussion injury.

Here's what Dr Hill stated

"Jhye is still working through his hamstring rehabilitation and will not be available tomorrow,

"Matt has been progressing through the concussion return-to-play protocols and is doing well overall. He will not be ready for tomorrow, but we are expecting him back to full training shortly after."

The Scorchers are in a spot of bother, losing some of their core players due to several reasons. Besides Richardson and Kelly, Lance Morris is also doubtful for the clash, while Ashton Agar has joined the national setup for their upcoming tour of India.

However, with the likes of David Payne, Jason Behrendorff and Andrew Tye present in the squad, the defending champions will aim at sealing a berth in the final when they meet the Sixers on Saturday.
