One of the most promising batters coming out of England, Alice Capsey finds herself racing against time to become fit for the upcoming ICC Women's T20- World Cup 2023 next month. Capsey, who is under rehabilitation for a broken collarbone injury, is included in the 15-member squad for the marquee event scheduled in South Africa.

The 18-year-old speaking to Plantsport expressed confidence about regaining full fitness ahead of the global tournament, and confirmed about resumption of light batting and bowling.

In her own words, she called her injury a 'freak' accident, that happened while fielding during England's tour of the Caribbean last month.

Here's what Capsey said

"The only race against time is probably diving and then just having confidence in my game. Actual performance-wise I'm not too concerned. I've been hitting them pretty nicely over the last couple of weeks and I've been back bowling 12 and 15 overs a week so actually cricket-wise my recovery has gone better than anyone really expected.

I've been a couple of weeks ahead of schedule from week one really, which has been really pleasing."

England are drawn in Group B, alongside West Indies, Ireland, India and Pakistan, and play their tournament opener on February 11.

Capsey found fame after performing exceedingly well in The Hundred Women's 2021, and earned a national T20I call-up during the Commonwealth Games last year.
