Former Pakistan cricketer Aamer Sohail believes that change in captaincy is not the answer to Pakistan's woes. He reckons Pakistan's problem extends well beyond the captaincy.

Pakistan's current all-format skipper Babar Azam has been facing intense criticism due to the team's recent lacklustre performances across formats.

At home, the Men in Green hosted England and New Zealand in the Test series, where the touring parties had a more fruitful time.

While the English team defeated Pakistan by 3-0, the Black Caps managed to draw the two-match series.

Due to that, many former cricketers have asked Babar to resign from captaincy and pass the baton.

According to a few reports, PCB is mulling over appointing separate skippers in three formats.

However, speaking against the idea of changing the captain, Aamer said:

"I do not agree that change in captaincy will bring any significant progress. Is there a guarantee that a new skipper will result in improved showing by the team? Instead of captaincy, focus should be on grooming budding players, which Pakistan definitely has in abundance."

Meanwhile, Babar has been ever so consistent with the bat. Unfortunately, he's not getting the support of other players.

So, instead of changing the captain, the management should ask the players to work on their fitness and improve their performance.
