"Important to pass on knowledge and develop next generation of cricketers": Dwayne Bravo

The inaugural edition of the International League T20 (ILT20), which begins today, will see former West Indies legend Dwayne Bravo take the field, playing for the MI Emirates. Emirates will be captained by his fellow countryman Kieron Pollard, and boasts of talents like Will Smeed, Bas de Leede, Craig Overton, Nicholas Pooran and Trent Boult.

Bravo speaking on the eve of the six-team tournament, talked about imparting his knowledge to younger players. According to India Today, Bravo also called ILT20 a competitive competition despite its short duration.

In 556 T20s, the Trinidad-born has scored 6,894 runs and picked up 614 wickets. 

Here's what Bravo said

“It’s important for me to pass on whatever knowledge that I have about the game to my teammates and develop the next generation of cricketers. This is a short tournament, but it's going to be a competitive one,"

The 39-year-old recently retired from the Indian Premier League (IPL) and was appointed bowling coach of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise. 

Pollard-led Emirates will take on the Sharjah Warriors in their first match of the ILT20 on Saturday at Sheikh Zayed Stadium on Saturday.
