Perth Scorchers will be without the services of their premier fast bowler Jhye Richardson for 2-3 weeks in the ongoing edition of Big Bash League (BBL) 2022-23, following a hamstring injury. Richardson has been the star pacer for the Scorchers this season, with 15 scalps from 7 matches, to be the joint-second highest wicket-taker in BBL 12.

Scorchers coach and former Australia international Adam Voges confirmed the 26-year-old's injury while speaking to the media after the bowler was unable to bowl his final over against the Sydney Thunder on Wednesday.

Richardson has been troubled by injuries across this short-career, where he has managed to represent Australia in 3 Tests, 15 ODIs, and 18 T20Is.

Here's what Voges said

"Jhye had scans last night, it’s on the very minor end of a hamstring strain. (It will be) two or three weeks, we’re certainly hopeful that we’ll see him before the end of the tournament.

"We’ve got world-class medical staff here and I’ll trust them to put the work in with Jhye over the next two weeks and hopefully we’ll see him back and get him back on the park as soon as possible."

The BBL 12 campaign for Perth has been tough, with injuries to players like Mitch Marsh and Phil Salt hampering their start. Faf du Plessis has already departed and England's Adam Lyth will also leave after the next match.

David Payne is most likely to replace Richardson in the XI against the Brisbane Heat.
