The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Najam Sethi extended his support to Shahid Afridi, who was recently appointed as the national team's interim chief selector and backed him to take bold decisions.

After England inflicted a clean sweep over Pakistan in the three-match Test series, Afridi was given the new role. Ramiz Raja was also sacked as the PCB chairman, with Najam Sethi taking up the role.

During an interaction with Arab News, Sethi shed light on the appointment of the former Pakistan captain as the interim chief selector, stating they were always looking for someone who could take bold decisions.

Sethi further added that Afridi wanted to bring some changes to the Pakistan team and motivate them to play bold cricket. However, he also conceded that the Men in Green will now play the game in its true spirit.

Here's what he said

"He's very popular, he's the sort of person we want in the selection committee who can take bold decisions. [Someone] to experiment with new talent, to realize where old is still gold and I think that was missing in this team which is why we had four defeats in a row in Test matches,

"Afridi was on board, he wanted to make some changes and he wanted the team to play bold and exciting cricket. We are not going to play to win or to lose, but we are now going to play the game in the true spirit."
