The recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022 witnessed several batters loot runs, with pitches being supportive of them. The likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ankit Bawne, Narayan Jagadeesan, and Riyan Parag hogged the entire limelight.

However, for Assam's Riyan Parag, it was a momentous tournament, where he silenced all his critics. The youngster has often been trolled or ridiculed for his outings with the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Rajasthan Royals, where he has had a mixed run.

In VHT 2022, Parag amassed 552 runs, which included three tons and one fifty. He also shined with the ball, picking up 10 wickets in nine matches.

Speaking to News18, Parag revealed his mindset behind scoring heaps of runs this season.

"To be honest I have been putting in the work for the last few years and haven’t been achieving the results I wanted to but this year I guess I was more focused, I blocked out the outside noise, I was not talking to many people and was focussing on what I had and the task which was at hand. Season’s not over yet but it has been very decent so far,"

Parag also praised his team Assam for reaching the semi-finals of the VHT 2022, which brought in a lot of self-confidence within each member.
