Australia's Test and ODI skipper, Pat Cummins has credited former pacer Dennis Lillee for the 'path of glory' that the pacer has achieved.

Cummins missed nearly five and a half years between his first and second Test due to chronic injuries on his back. However, the 29-year-old pacer came back stronger in 2017 and hasn't looked back since then. Cummins on Friday claimed his 200th Test wicket in his 44th Test.

Only four Australian bowlers Clarrie Grimmett (36 Tests), Lillee (38), Stuart MacGill (41), and Shane Warne (42) have taken 200 wickets in fewer Tests.

Pacer hails Lillee

"DK has been awesome. He's not here in Perth this week, he's away, but I've chatted with him a few times.

I think that rebuilding phase (during injury period) gave me confidence that I could comeback a better bowler, and I think over the years chatting to him over the phone, he's seen it all before."

Cummins added: "He remembers what Test cricket was like even though it was a little while ago. So he remembers how tough it can be and how to manage your body and manage spells. And having someone like him in my corner, giving words of encouragement, some words of technique advice, every now and then is awesome."
