India captain, Shubman Gill's Test jersey, which he wore at the Lord's Test against England, was sold at a whopping price of £4,600 (approx 5.41 lakh). The jersey was sold at the Budds auction, under the lot dedicated to former England cricketer, Andrew Strauss' foundation - Red Ruth Charity.

The jersey fetched the highest amount amongst all the collected memorabilia, including a signed jersey and caps from both teams.

“This special-edition shirt, worn in support of the Ruth Strauss Foundation, features the official India Test crest and shows visible signs of match wear, with staining and unwashed. Gill, renowned for his graceful stroke play and calm temperament, is one of the brightest talents in world cricket. Shirt is unwashed and match worn—a rare collector’s item from a memorable day at the Home of Cricket," Shubman Gill's shirt description on the auction website read.

Jadeja, Bumrah's jersey fetches second highest bid

With Gill's jersey getting the highest bid, the jersey donned by Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja fetched the second highest bid of the auction - £4,200 (approx 4.94 lakhs). The two stars performed exceptionally well, especially Ravindra Jadeja, who scored more than 500-runs in the series.

KL Rahul jersey bagged the third highest price - £4,000 (around Rs 4.70 lakhs). For England, Joe Root's jersey fetched the highest amount in the auction - £3,800 (around Rs 4.47 lakhs).

What is Red Ruth Foundation?

It has been a tradition that every year, one day of the Lord's Test is dedicated to Andrew Strauss' wife, Ruth Strauss, who died of Cancer. As a tribute to his late wife, cricketers, broadcasters, and even fans wear red-coloured clothing, as a fitting tribute to Strauss' wife, Ruth.

Through the foundation, money is generated via auction, and it is used to treat Cancer patients.
