After continuously grinding in domestic and league cricket, Alex Hales earned an England T20I call-back for the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022. Hales, who came in as a replacement for the injured Jonny Bairstow and has managed to overturn his critics into fans.

Hales' knock against India today in the semi-final has finally earned him praise from former England captain Eoin Morgan.  The 33-year-old is England's leading run-getter in the tournament with 211 runs, including two fifties.

Morgan was instrumental in dropping Hales from England's white-ball teams after a breakdown in trust ahead of the ICC World Cup 2019.

Speaking with inews.co.uk, Morgan said that Hales has managed to earn the trust back of his teammates riding on back of his performances.

“I have been impressed with him. Yeah, absolutely, I suppose the only thing that’s changed between the transition from one captain to the other is Jos has had the bad end of the stick with injuries so it’s a completely different circumstance.

But again, everybody’s happy for him, which is important not only for the team but for him."

England take on Pakistan on Sunday in the final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
